Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of Libya’s Ground Forces, arrived in Rome on an official visit at the invitation of the Italian government.

During his visit, he held an extensive meeting at the Ministry of Interior with Minister Matteo Piantedosi and senior ministry officials.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral security cooperation, particularly in combating illegal migration, human trafficking networks, and organized crime.

General Haftar reaffirmed the commitment of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to strengthening Libya–Italy relations and advancing mutual interests.

Minister Piantedosi, in turn, expressed his appreciation for General Haftar’s efforts in fostering cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.
