The General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) strongly denied accusations made by the Sudanese Armed Forces, which claimed that Libyan forces had intervened in Sudanese border areas and seized land. The LNA described these claims as baseless and a repeated narrative aimed at deflecting from Sudan’s internal crisis by fabricating an external enemy.
The statement clarified that Libya has never posed a threat to its neighbors and continues to prioritize border security, anti-terrorism efforts, and coordinated cooperation with neighboring countries. The LNA reported that its patrols were recently attacked by Sudanese forces while operating on Libyan territory, and while the incident was contained, it reserves the right to respond to any future violations.
The LNA criticized Sudan’s repeated border provocations and reaffirmed that Libya, especially its eastern and southeastern regions, has borne the brunt of the ongoing Sudanese conflict, including a humanitarian burden due to massive refugee inflows. It rejected all attempts to drag Libya into the Sudanese civil war and warned against fueling regional tensions.
Finally, the Libyan Army reiterated its commitment to good neighborly relations, international law, and non-interference in other nations’ internal affairs, while emphasizing its unwavering resolve to defend every inch of Libyan territory.
