In line with directives from the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces and direct instructions from Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, a high-level security meeting was held at the headquarters of the Coast Guard on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The meeting brought together the Head of the Illegal Migration Control Department, Major General Salah Al-Khififi, and Coast Guard leadership.

The two agencies agreed to establish a Joint Security Room to enhance coordination in combating illegal migration and transnational smuggling networks. This move follows the activation of desert patrol units, which have proven effective in covering vast southern and eastern areas.

The plan’s second phase will expand to securing the Libyan coast in full coordination with the armed forces, forming a unified national security system from the coastline to the depths of the desert to protect the nation’s sovereignty.
