Sources have revealed that an advanced technical investigation confirmed the video circulating of missing Libyan MP Ibrahim Al-Darsi is fabricated and was produced using professional deepfake technology.
According to forensic analysis conducted by the platforms Attestiv and Vera.Ai—the latter being an EU-backed project used by Agence France-Presse (AFP)—the video displayed subtle visual distortions in facial expressions and mismatches between lip movements and spoken audio.
The platforms flagged the video with an 88% suspicion score, categorizing it as highly unreliable and technically manipulated content.
In a simultaneous political development, Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi stated in media remarks that the recent presidential decrees published under the name of President Mohamed Al-Menfi were issued without his knowledge or signature.
He added that Al-Menfi was on medical leave at the time, while Moussa Al-Koni was reportedly abroad.
According to the Libyan Political Agreement, the issuance of presidential decrees is a collective authority of the Presidential Council, not an individual action.
This raises serious legal questions about who actually signed and published the decrees—and who stands to benefit from them
