As part of his official visit to Italy, the Chief of Staff of Libya’s Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, accompanied by a delegation from the General Command, met with the Chief of the Italian Defense Staff, General Luciano Portolano.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral military relations and exploring mechanisms for enhanced cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two countries.
Both sides also discussed the possibility of launching specialized training programs aimed at improving the capabilities of Libya’s Coast Guard and Border Guards, with the shared goal of bolstering protection of territorial waters for both Libya and Italy.
