Legal and human rights sources have called for an urgent and thorough investigation into the abduction of MP Ibrahim Al-Darsi, including verifying the authenticity, date, and location of the recently circulated videos. The sources stressed the importance of upholding human dignity and civil rights in the face of such incidents.
They noted that the General Command is making significant efforts to uncover the truth, reaffirming its commitment to protecting freedoms and countering efforts to destabilize the country.
The release of the videos, coinciding with a crucial parliamentary session, has raised serious questions about the motives behind the timing. This came a day after the head of the Government of National Unity launched a pointed attack on Speaker Aguila Saleh, questioning the absence of certain MPs—implicitly referencing the abducted Al-Darsi.
Sources also did not rule out that the campaign may aim to tarnish the reputation of Lt. Gen. Saddam Haftar, especially following his recent international successes, including a notable visit to Washington that drew widespread political and media attention.
