General Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Libyan Ground Forces, took part in the second day of the Mediterranean Chiefs of Army Staff Conference held in Toulon, France. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in response to natural and man-made disasters and the army’s role in strengthening national resilience through youth engagement.
During the visit, General Haftar toured the Southern Region Civil Protection Unit of the French Army, which had previously assisted during the Derna disaster in 2023.
He reviewed an operational presentation of the unit’s structure and emergency readiness.
At the conclusion, he expressed deep gratitude to all local and international entities that contributed to relief efforts during Storm Daniel, including the French Republic.
